*NOTE: Wicker Park Fest is occurring the same weekend. Guests are advised against trying to drive. The festival ends at 10pm, which is when Brain Frame starts.
From the inky black womb of the stars comes the space vulture priesthood, shepherds of the machine spirit and harbingers of the singularity. Join us in an ecstatic celebration as the omega zepto convergence commences and the priesthood receives a divine transmission from the star child.
Featuring an exhibit of artifacts, otherworldly fashions, nine sacred Jell-Os, and a healthy dose of Rock Music. With a very special Rite of Ascension at 9pm.
Young Joon Kwak and Josh Minkus present Un Body, an experiment in a collaborative approach to their seemingly divergent art practices: Young Joon Kwak’s performance and object making plays with the reconfiguration of identifications that constitute subjectivity, enacting a sort of drag through her art; Josh Minkus’ sculptural arrangements play with the idea of a sculptural frame or pedestal through shifts of scale and material juxtaposition.
Through the process of installing Minkus’ sculptures with Kwak’s video, sculpture, photo, and drawings, the artists hope to highlight commonalities and contrasts, confusing and enriching each other’s work. Un Body advances this idea, in which Kwak and Minkus invite the audience to take part in the artists’ investigation of their own difference, connections, and the spaces in-between.
Opening Reception: Friday, July 13, 6-10pm

MixTape Project Vol.2
The second installment of the MixTape Project, Volume 2 is our best mix yet. A collaborative theatrical/musical event, MixTape features 12 directors and 12 songs. Inspired by music ranging from live music to 90s classics! MixTape: Volume 2 is a celebration of the creative force of music.
*The songs are presented back to back, to create the experience of watching and listening to a “mixed tape.”
Please help spread the word about her project! There are only two days left for Young to raise $265 to reach her funding goal. Young has received 82% of the donations needed to make her project happen! W00t!
Young, a 2011 Ragdale Fellow, will be using the proceeds to “cover the cost of materials, production, and promotion to complete this project in time for its public debut.”
We’re excited to have Young kick off her ambitious project here in Chicago at our gallery (Happy Dog, duh!) on July 13th. Please show your support for a truly talented artist and consider making a tax-deductible donation ——> HERE. And don’t forget to pass the word along!
